Submission Process
The Scientific Committee of the ICOPLAST World Congress Capetown 2025 invites authors to submit abstracts to be considered for inclusion in the scientific programme.
Please read and follow the ‘Guidelines for writing an abstract’ on the next tab. Abstracts not conforming to these guidelines will not be considered.
General Conditions and Information
- Abstract submission must be completed online via the Abstract Submission form in this website.
- Submission of an abstract constitutes a formal commitment by the author to present the work in person during the ICOPLAST World Congress Cape Town 2025, if accepted.
- Failure to register and pay for the ICOPLAST World Congress Cape Town 2025 by 15 April 2025 will lead to the withdrawal of the abstract from the scientific programme.
Changes and corrections
- Once submitted, it is not possible to make any corrections to the abstract content or information (above all authors list and details).
- If accepted, your abstract will be published as submitted.
Submission rules
- Each presenting author can submit a maximum of 3 abstracts.
- The submitting author must be the presenting author and does not necessarily have to be the first author.
- The final decision on acceptance or rejection of an abstract is made by the scientific committee.
- The abstract may be allocated as a poster presentation by the scientific committee according to reviewing process. Candidates selected for a poster presentation will receive detailed specifications for their posters.
- Authors will be notified about the delivery of their abstract by e-mail. In case of no confirmation e-mail, please contact: abstracts@icoplast2025capetown.com

Guidelines for writing an abstract
- Type the title in CAPITAL LETTERS, using no more than twenty (20) words.
- The presenter’s name should be
- Indicate department and/or institution of first author.
- The abstract must be typed in single space using 12 point Arial Font with 2.5cm margins on all sides of the page.
- Abstracts should be approximately 250 words or less without editorial errors .
- Layout should make use of the following sections : BACKGROUND; METHODS ; RESULTS; CONCLUSIONS
- Please indicate level of evidence. EBM ratings will be based on a scale of 1-5 as follows:
Level of evidence categories
- Level I: Evidence obtained from at least one properly designed randomized controlled trial; or systematic review of these studies.
- Level II: Evidence obtained from well-designed controlled trials without randomization; or systematic review of randomized controlled trials.
- Level III: Evidence obtained from well-designed cohort or case-control analytic studies, preferably from more than one center or research group.
- Level IV: Evidence obtained from multiple time series with or without the intervention, such as case studies. Dramatic results in uncontrolled trials might also be regarded as this type of evidence.
- Level V: Opinions of respected authorities, based on clinical experience, descriptive studies, or reports of expert committees.
- Not Applicable: The following types of articles are not gradable for level of evidence:
- Animal studies
- Economic Studies
- Experimental studies
- Cadaveric studies
- All articles gradable for level of evidence need to indicate the clinical question addressed by the study (diagnostic, therapeutic or risk).
- English will be the language for all presentations.
- Proofread your abstract for typographic errors. It will not be corrected prior to publication.
- Notification of acceptance or rejection by the Scientific Committee will be emailed to the presenting author.
- Depending on the number of abstracts received, some may be selected for poster presentation. Details will be supplied.
- The abstract should not contain any undefined abbreviations or unspecified references.
- Please provide keywords.
